Helen Pudlin

Senior Advisor

Helen retired from The PNC Financial Services Group, where she served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. She served as General Counsel for more than 18 years and was a member of the Executive Committee of the corporation. In addition to leading the legal function, Helen’s direct reports included the heads of the regulatory affairs and corporate secretary functions. Before joining PNC, she was a partner in the law firm of Ballard Spahr, where she co-chaired the firm’s health law group and was a commercial litigator.

Helen is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, where she serves on the Corporate Governance and Investment Committees. She also is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Wistar Institute, an independent nonprofit biomedical research institute. She is on the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, on the Board of Advisors of the University of Pennsylvania Institute for Law and Economics, and on the Advisory Board of NAXION (a market research and consulting firm). Helen has been a Lecturer in Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she has co-taught a course called Challenges Facing General Counsel. She also has served as an arbitrator in complex disputes.

Helen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received a B.A. and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
