Cornell Boggs, who served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Dow Corning Corporation, a global leader in silicon-based technology and the world’s largest silicone product producer, has joined the advisory and coaching division of BarkerGilmore, a New York-based boutique executive search firm. The newest member of a distinguished team of Fortune 500 General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officers, Boggs adds his considerable international expertise to the strategic counsel, leadership development, and other services BarkerGilmore advisors provide to legal and compliance departments, CEOs, and boards across the country, including General Counsel recruiting and placement.

In addition to his tenure at Dow Corning Corporation, Boggs served in a variety of industries including Miller Coors LLC/Coors Brewing Company, a leading producer of domestic and imported alcohol beverages, where he was Chief Responsibility and Ethics Officer. While at Tyco Plastics & Adhesives, a $1.74B division of the diversified global company Tyco International Ltd., he was Vice President and General Counsel. Earlier in his career, Boggs was the Americas Regional Counsel for Intel Corporation, a manufacturer of semiconductors and microprocessors for computers, held legal positions at Anheuser-Busch Companies, an American brewer and distributor, and at Monsanto Company, a publicly traded multinational agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation.

Boggs most recently served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Toys “R” Us, a multinational corporation specializing in the retail sale of toys and baby products.

A graduate of Valparaiso University and Valparaiso University Law School, Boggs currently serves on the Board of Directors of his alma mater, where he is Vice Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Executive Committee. He is on the Board of Thrivent Financial (a Fortune 500 financial services company), where he serves on the Governance and Human Resources Committee. Boggs has been a Board Member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.

A resident of Ludington, Michigan, Boggs, active in many organizations, was an Accreditation Site Review team member for the University of San Diego School of Law, Baylor University Law School, and the University of Notre Dame. He is also a Member of both the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). Previously he was a member of the American Bar Association’s Standards Review Committee for the Accreditation of U.S. Law Schools.

The recipient of numerous awards, Boggs was named one of the “Most Influential People in Valparaiso University’s 150-year History” in 2009. Savoy magazine cited him as one of the “Top 100 Influential Blacks in Corporate America” in 2014, and as one of the “Most Influential Black Lawyers in America” in 2015. He received the Burton Award in 2017 and was recognized as a “Legend in Law.”
