Audrey Rubin, nationally acclaimed as both a pioneer of the legal operations function and a preeminent leader in the business of law, with an innovative background in advising law departments and law firms on operations, profitability, business acumen, leadership and team development, diversity and inclusion, and the use of process improvement and practical technology to maximize value, has joined the advisory and coaching division of BarkerGilmore, a New York-based boutique executive search firm.  The newest member of a distinguished team of Fortune 500 General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officers, and board members, Rubin adds her considerable legal and business expertise to the strategic counsel, leadership development, and other services BarkerGilmore advisors provide to legal and compliance departments, CEOs, and boards across the country, including General Counsel recruiting and placement.

Prior to joining BarkerGilmore, she was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Global Law and Compliance Department of Aon Corporation (NYSE: AON), a leading global financial services firm, overseeing all financial, talent, strategic planning, technology, process improvement, and other business matters. During her tenure, Aon’s law department earned the ACC Value Challenge Award and received recognition from the Process Excellence Network, Thomson Reuters, the Chicago Bar Foundation, the National Immigrant Justice Center, and the Legal Aid Society. Earlier in her career, Rubin was Acting General Counsel at Orbitz Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:OWW), Chief Legal Officer and Acting Chief Human Resources officer for Grant Thornton, one of the world’s largest networks of independent and consulting member firms, and Vice President & General Counsel, Chief Human Resources Officer, and Corporate Secretary of Apollo Travel Services, an affiliate of United Airlines (NASDAQ:UAL) She also held the position of Chief Operating Officer at the law firms of Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon LLP and Butler, Rubin, Saltarelli & Boyd LLP.  Rubin has served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois College of Law for the past decade, where she teaches “The Changing Business of Law,” and is a former Adjunct Professor at IIT Chicago Kent College of Law and Special Lecturer at Northwestern University School of Law. Additionally, she is Faculty of the Legal Lean Sigma® Institute.

Currently serving on the boards of Metropolitan Family Services and the Chicago Bar Foundation/Illinois Bar Foundation Task Force on the Sustainable Practice of Law and Innovation, she is a former Director of the Yale Alumni Association and the Chicago Bar Association.  Rubin served as an Appointee to the ABA Presidential Task Force on Women in the Profession and was the Founder and Chair of the Illinois Task Force on Gender Bias in the Courts.  A recipient of the ACC Value Champion Award, and the “Early Adopter” award from Illinois Legal Aid Online, she was honored with the prestigious “Women of Achievement Award” by the Anti-Defamation League.

Rubin received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Yale University. She is a Certified Mediator and holds an Executive Finance Certification from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
