Description
We are looking for two to three seasoned attorneys to join one of the most advanced in-house benefits teams in the United States. This is a unique opportunity to work on sophisticated legal work in a collegial environment with predictable and consistent hours and industry leading compensation. The ideal attorney will produce high-quality intellectual capital and provide in-house counsel focusing on complex and cutting edge issues around defined benefit, defined contribution and other qualified and nonqualified retirement plans. We are looking for unique individuals who are experts in the benefits field and who like to write, teach and speak at high profile conferences. Responsibilities: • Play a lead role writing, peer reviewing and otherwise working with other Retirement colleagues on GRIST articles and other written intellectual capital on retirement plan legal issues • Present updates, analyses, and practical insights on current retirement plan legal issues to inform and train employees and clients in group and one-on-one sessions that occur in person and on audio and web conferences • Assist clients in developing, implementing, and administering clients’ retirement strategies and plans in light of current legal parameters and requirements. Qualifications: • JD with at least seven years of in depth experience on retirement plan legal issues • Significant major law firm experience is preferred • Strong substantive background on key retirement plan legal issues such as the Pension Protection Act, 401(k) plans, section 409A, coverage and nondiscrimination rules, section 415, relative value/optional form of benefit provisions, cash balance and other hybrid plans, lump sum distributions, and plan terminations • Strong writing and communication capabilities (R5073).
